City of Grandview

The City of Grandview is a council-manager form of government that has both an elected governing body and an appointed city manager.  Hillsboro has three separate geographical wards, each with two representatives, and a city-wide elected Mayor.  As the governing body of the City, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen have the authority to give final approval to most development applications, hold public hearings, make the final decisions on Comprehensive Plan Amendments, Zoning & Subdivision Text Amendments, Rezonings, Conceptual Development Plans, Planned Developments (PD), Conditional Use Permits, and Final Plat.

Grandview C-4 Board of Education

The Board of Education is a seven member representative body elected by the registered voters of the Grandview C-4 School District of Jackson County. An annual school board election is held in April each year. School board members are volunteers that receive no compensation for serving on the Board. The role of the Board of Education is to exercise general supervision over the district, and to ensure that the schools are maintained as provided by the state statutes, the rules and regulations of the Missouri State Board of Education and/or the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the policies, rules and regulations of the school district. The Board adopts policies for the governance of the District, with responsibility for implementing Board policy and day-to-day operations of the District delegated to the superintendent. The Board has the authority to take official action only when a minimum of four members are present.

Jackson County

Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr. - Frank was elected County Executive on November 8, 2016, after having served as appointed County Executive starting January 11, 2016. During his time in office, Frank has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Jackson County citizens. Major accomplishments include his support of the Children’s Services Fund, the establishment of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program and the passage of the Tobacco 21 ordinance. Frank is also proud to have led efforts to renew the county’s COMBAT anti-violence/anti-drug abuse program, to bring kids to county parks, gain approval of the vehicle sales tax, institute “Ban the Box” and the acquisition of the Rock Island Rail Corridor.

Jackson County Legislature - Six County Legislators are elected from six local districts of similar size, each representing about 1/6 of the County’s constituents. Three County Legislators are elected from three "at-large" districts of similar size. Every citizen in Jackson County is there-by represented by two County Legislators. The County Legislature is responsible for all legislative duties in the County, including the introduction and enaction of all County resolutions. They are also responsible for the introduction and enaction of all County ordinances subject to the approval or veto of the County Executive. A veto by the Executive can be overridden by six votes of the Legislature.

The County Legislature meets once a week, at the Jackson County Courthouse in Kansas City.

State of Missouri

Governor Mike Parson - Michael L. Parson was sworn in as Missouri’s 57th governor on June 1, 2018. Governor Parson came into the role of governor with a lifelong commitment to serving others and over 30 years of experience in public service. He previously served as the 47th lieutenant governor of Missouri from 2017–2018.

Senator Greg Razer, 7th District - Greg Razer, a Democrat, is the State Senator for the 7th Senatorial District, serving a portion of Jackson County. He was first elected to serve in the Senate in 2020. Senator Razer previously served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives. Prior to his legislative duties, Sen. Razer was the Deputy Regional Director for U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill from 2008-2016.

Representative Anthony Ealy, 36th District - State Representative Anthony Ealy, Jr., a Democrat, represents part of Jackson County (District 36) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2022. Ealy is the first Black Representative to represent the city of Grandview, and the youngest representative to represent the district as a whole.
